Rockfield House is a beautifully renovated Georgian estate set in the heart of Meath
countryside and is the perfect location to enjoy fun and frolics with all your friends and family.

Downstairs

Your group will be led through our upstairs downstairs laugh-a-minute high jinks by our butler and housemaids who will encourage the whole group to enjoy an afternoon like no other.

On arrival, your group will show your skills at some of the household chores, perhaps prepare your dessert, perform chamber pot duties, wash some of the lords’ and ladies’ laundry… The emphasis is very much on fun rather than work!

Upstairs

To progress to the ranks of the upper classes everyone needs a new
outfit! We have glamourous costumes for everyone of all shapes and
sizes.
Bedecked in your finery, promenade through the house to the dining
room where you can enjoy some delightful treats. Later you will
adjourn to the Drawing Room for a selection of fun games, a Victorian
dance and of course some photos for the society pages.

Dinner

Thai Chicken Curry/Pad Thai with rice, dessert, tea and coffee.

Vegetarian and vegan curry available on request and special dietary requirements.

Please forward us any requests at least seven days before your booking.

Drinks

We ask that you do not drink alcohol during activities but you are very welcome to bring your own drinks to have with tea or dinner. We will keep any drinks chilled as necessary and serve them in the dining room. We do not charge corkage fees.

What to bring with you

We ask all the ladies to wear a long-sleeved black top and comfortable clothes and shoes.

For the gentlemen, it is great if they wear a white/cream shirt and preferably no jeans.

We have luxury accommodation available for up to 32 people here at Rockfield House. The rooms are beautiful with very grand bathrooms.

Continental breakfast served in the dining room is included in the package rate for those staying in the main house.

For this option we ask for a minimum of fifteen people staying over – and this will give you access to the house in the evening.

Our newly renovated Gardener’s Lodge offers delightful dormitory style bedrooms with communal kitchen and living area for up to 22 people.

The Courtyard Apartment and Coachman’s Loft sleep 5 each.

FAQs

Can We Stay Over?

Yes – Please visit the Accommodation Page for a full description of the available accommodation.

How long does the experience last?

The Tea and Cake option lasts 3 hours and the dinner option, 3/5 hours.

Is it suitable for all ages

Yes – this is a wonderful event for multi-generational groups. We have had toddlers to ninety year olds and everyone had a ball. 

Is alcohol served?

You are very welcome to bring your own wine / drinks. We will be delighted to serve them with your meal. We do not charge corkage fees.

Do we bring our own costumes?

Just one item – we ask that every lady to wear a black long-sleeved top and that all gentlemen wear a plain long sleeved shirt (for servant duty) – we have everything else.

We have lots of costumes for ladies and gentlemen, but if you prefer to bring your own, you are very welcome to.

This could just be the perfect outing for your heirloom outfit.

Where did you get the idea?
We all loved Downton Abbey and this experience gives everyone a chance to be Anna and Lady Mary, Bates and Lord Grantham.
And of course for those of us who appreciate the world of Jane Austen created, this is a chance to be Elizabeth Bennett.
What do we need to bring?

Please note that we cannot allow any decorations to be affixed to the walls or timberwork of the main house.  Free-standing decorations are fine.

I cannot put into words how much I thoroughly enjoyed my hen at Victorian Escapade! Start to finish was just an incredible experience! At one point my cheeks were hurting from some much laughing. From the Butler McQuade to Cara in the dressing room, they were 5 star hosts. I originally had my plan set for back in April but had to cancel with covid, they had no issues in returning the deposits and rebooking when it was safe again. Deirdre the lady of the house was sooo friendly and couldn’t have done more for us! The afternoon tea was so delicious, and they catered for all foody types! Cannot say a bad word about the place! Loved every moment and I know for a fact all of the girls did also, even the ones who thought they might feel awkward about dressing up! Some laugh! Would love to go back!
The whole event from start to finish was fantastic! Staff were second to none, professional and so accommodating. We felt so welcome as soon as we arrived and enjoyed every minute of the experience. Our butler was Andy who was the most perfect host.
Best Weekend Ever! It was amazing evening! We did the same experience 6 years ago for my hen party, and ever since we were looking for an excuse to come back. We had a group of 29 ladies and every single person loved every minute of it!!! Dermot the Butler was an absolute star of the show and had every person leave the Victorian escapades with a pain in their faces from laughing. We had dinner as well which was absolutely delicious.
Went with a group of 13 mixed ages from 25 to 70, men and women and everyone had such a laugh I would highly recommend ! Especially fun for anyone with “notions” Andy the butler was fantastic and made our day !!
I was at a hen yesterday in the Victorian Escapade. I was a little apprehensive on hearing what was in store but as soon as we arrived all the staff made us feel very welcome. Firstly we dressed up as servants (Downton Abbey) style and then we went downstairs to learn how to make apple or lemon cake. I was so pleased to taste the cake I had made later at a beautiful afternoon tea. We had some other fun games dressed as servants but then we went upstairs to experience the other side of life in Victorian times and we all dressed up as 'ladies' and had a beautiful afternoon tea served to us. The girl getting married is a huge fan of Downton abbey and had a ball. Would definitely recommend for a hen party especially as something different!

Prices/Booking

  • The Countess Package with no accommodation (€49 per person) lasts for 3 hours and includes activities, costumes and Tea and Cake
  • The Duchess Package with no accommodation (€79 per person) lasts for 3.5 hours and includes activities, costumes and three course dinner.
  • There is a minimum group charge of €600 for all events.

Approximate numbers attending are all that are required for booking, more definite numbers can be confirmed the week before your visit. We request a booking deposit of €200. The deposit is fully refundable once you cancel more than 1 month before your booking date. Other dates and times are available on request but we do not run Hen Parties on Sundays or bank holiday Mondays.

  • For accommodation packages, a 25% deposit will be taken at time of booking, with the balance, based on final numbers,  due four weeks prior to your stay.
